Founded with a vision to promote the higher education needs of the north Malabar region of the Kerala State, Kannur University has become a beacon of learning and innovation. Our commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and outreach programs is the cornerstone of our institution's identity. Since our establishment in 1996, we have developed 28 teaching departments and 6 teaching centers across 9 campuses in Kannur, Kasargod, and Wayanad districts. We offer a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs spanning various disciplines. Our departments also have academic collaborations with prestigious national and international institutions.

Catering to the higher education needs of the rural community is a central focus of the university. Our unique multi-campus system, distinct from other universities in the state, ensures that students from rural and underserved areas have access to quality education, empowering them to pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society. Additionally, 119 affiliated colleges offering UG and PG programs in fields like Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, and Fine Arts play an integral role in fulfilling the educational needs of the region.
